This is nothing much, I just like to share the things I found out in Google while searching for some motivators and diet tips a while ago.
12 Ways to Get Motivated to Lose Weight
- Keep on saying "So that..." Ask yourself frequently why do you want to lose weight and after you come up with a reason just keep on saying "so that". For example, "I want to lose weight to look better so that..." The more times you say it, the more motivated you would become to lose weight.
- Play the "If I do" and "If I don't" game. Take two sheets of paper and on the top of your first sheet of paper write, "These are all the GOOD things that would start happening to me tomorrow, next week, next month or 2, 3, 5 years from now if I do take action to lose weight." And on the other paper write, "These are all the BAD things that would start happening to me tomorrow, next week, next month or 2, 3, 5 years from now if I do not take action to lose weight." For example, you can write something like, "I'll be proud of myself for losing weight" or "In 2-5 months, people will start telling me how better I look" on the good things and "I'll be depressed again for not trying to lose weight" or "Other people will call me fat behind my back" on the bad things. Every time you feel like giving up on losing weight or dreams of looking good naked, just take 10 minutes from your time to read it and voila, you'll be energized to continue your journey again.
- Make a bet with yourself. You can make a bet with yourself or other people you know to guarantee that you will lose weight and good look naked. For example, tell your friend you will give him/her 500 bucks if you don't lose 10lbs in a month. The more extreme the bet is or the more you have to lose, the greater chance you will actually reach your weight loss goal.
- Make excuses to win and don't make excuses to lose. Stop making lame excuses to lose weight like you don't have time or you can't workout because you get sweaty. It's easy to make excuses to lose and be a loser because a loser is someone who doesn't even try but it's also easy to make excuses to win and be a winner because a winner's someone who gets of their ass and gives at least 1%. If you don't have time, make time. Stop watching too much TV for a while or get off the internet and whatever it is that takes you away from losing your weight and looking good naked. Use the time to lose those extra fats.
- Let nothing stop you from losing weight. Write down everything that is stopping you from reaching your weight loss goal and then beside it, make a plan to eliminate the problem. For example, you do not have a time to lose weight, the plan beside that would be spending 30 minutes away from the television to render your time in exercise. Don't ever falsely believe that your genetics are keeping you from losing weight. Write down what is stopping you and stop it before it makes you even fatter. Because, apparently, the only reason why you shouldn't lose weight is because you don't really want to lose weight.
- Set deadlines and then reward yourself. For instance, your big weight loss goal is to lose 100lbs in 10 months, you can set 10 deadlines making it 10lbs per month. If you actually lose the expected amount for each month, or even bigger than it, reward yourself by buying a new dress or going out to a movie. But make sure you will not reward yourself by sabotaging your weight loss plan or eating stuff that's going to put weight back on. Remember that the greater the reward you have planned for yourself, the higher motivation you'll have to be able to lose weight.
- Set deadlines and punish yourself. If you don't meet your deadlines you have to punish yourself. Say you missed to lose 10lbs by losing only 9lbs, punish yourself by not watching TV for a week or by not going shopping for a month. Along with the reward and the punishment, you can be sure you'll stay highly motivated to lose weight or whatever else you set your mind into.
- Post a picture everywhere. Post a picture of what you want to look like after you lose weight, everywhere you can. So if you were skinny in High school, post your old high school pictures everywhere. If you have always had a weight problem then...
- Get a magazine and cut the person you want to be. You could either cut the same exact thing or you might want to put your face on top of the body figure so the images of you losing weight would be clearer every single time you look at it. Show it to somebody else and if they give you the look that you can't do it, therefore you have another motivation to prove them all wrong. Post pictures everywhere and put a note under it, saying, "I will get a sexy body just like this cover model and when I do, I will laugh in the surprised faces of all the people who said I could never look like this."
- Hang out with skinny people. There's a saying that goes like, "If you hang out with 9 broke people, you'll prolly end up being the 10th broke person but if you hang out with 9 rich people, you'll probably end up being the 10th rich person" and the same goes true for losing weight. Hang out with skinny people and you'll pick up their habits for staying slim. You don't have to dump all of your overweight friends, you just shouldn't let their bad habits influence you.
- Talk to your future self. Imagine how you'll look good in the next 1-6 months with all the good things that will happen to you, and every time you feel like cheating on your diet, not working out, or just giving up, stop and ask your future self what she did to look good naked and they will they you all the things that made them successful in the end. If that doesn't work, imagine yourself out on a date with that man or woman you always wanted to be with and ask them those same questions and if that still doesn't work, go back to #1 and #2 and imagine any other favorable situation where your future self can help you give 100% Never-Give-Up-Until-You-Look-Good attitude.
- Remember the CBA's. Conceive yourself losing weight. Believe you can lose weight. And Achieve the goal of losing weight. If you believe you can, you can. If you believe you won't, you most assuredly won't. Belief is the ignition switch that gets you off the launching pad. So believe and make sure you will never stop trying to succeed. After all, nothing is possible when you keep on trying.
